Scotland has been dealt a cruel blow for next years international season, having lost 2006 Player of the Year and 35-test winger Sean Lamont to injury.
His Northampton Saints club has confirmed that Lamont has been ruled out
of all rugby for the remainder of the season after sustaining serious damage to
his anterior cruciate ligament during the Saints' victory over Pertemps Bees
last weekend.
The injury requires surgery, and the club hoped to have him back in training by pre-season next season.
This means Lamont is ruled out of both Scotland's Six Nations campaign and of the Scots' June Tests.
