Mils Muliaina is the latest All Black to join the injured list after pulling a hamstring against Portugal in Lyon and he looks set to miss the side's next game against Scotland.
Muliaina lasted just five minutes into the match against Portugal which the All Blacks won 108-13.
"And I probably stayed on a bit too long," he told reporters after the match.
"It happened in the first minute. I have had a few tweaks this year and so have not played much rugby that's why I was so keen to play.
"But it wasn't fair that the team carry me so I made the call to come off and I now just have to get into the rehab.
"It's a little sore at the moment but hopefully by tomorrow I will be in better shape."
The immediate prognosis was a small tear meaning he will probably be out of action for a week.
The All Blacks next play against Scotland in Edinburgh and while Muliaina was optimistic about being ready for that match, coach Graham Henry wasnt as positive.
He predicted Muliaina would miss the match with Leon MacDonald to play fullback.
Ali Williams left the field in the second spell but was only winded and Conrad Smith got through a full 80 minutes at centre.
Comeback prop Greg Somerville also played his first All Blacks match in a year after recovering from leg and eye injuries.
