New Leicester coach Marcelo Loffreda has introduced himself to his players but has told them that for the time being, he would restrict himself to just watching from the sidelines.
Former English hooker Richard Cockerill, who has been acting head coach
after the departure of Australian Pat Howard, will select the team for
Saturdays Heineken Cup match against Leinster and said yesterday
that he will continue to run the side until the former Pumas coach feels
he is ready to take control.
Marcelo doesnt feel its right that he should come in on the Tuesday before a big game and start changing things, Cockerill told reporters.
Hes the boss and hell take charge when he sees fit, but for the moment he just wants to sit back and see how weve been running things before he puts his stamp on it.
Having returned home after leading his nation to its first ever RWC semifinal, Loffreda flew in to Heathrow on Monday and travelled that evening to Worcester, where he watched Leicesters Development XV.
How we go about the integration is quite important, Cockerill said. At the moment, Im just running it as I have been since the start of the season. Until he asks me to move to one side, Ill keep doing that.
