Jonny Wilkinson is back and ready to go for England and will form a new 10/12 combination with his his impressive first five understudy Olly Barkley against Samoa.
England coach Brian Ashton has named a completely revamped backline
on Tuesday after the defending champions' ordinary performance in the 36-0 loss
to South Africa last Friday.
"You have two guys who I think are very much on the same wavelength," Wilkinson told a new conference.
"We are two guys who are used to talking, running the game, bossing people around and it's great to be playing with him."
Barkley was Englands best performer in the sides opening win over the United States but damaged a hip flexor in training.
His unavailability meant England went into the Springbok match without a recognised first five.
"In terms of seeing something different I guess that's for me and Olly to show on the field, but having two guys who play the game in their head very similarly, that's a great thing, a definite understanding of when to run, when to kick and when to pass," Wilkinson said.
"It's about getting as quickly as you can into a position where your natural instincts take over and move people or the ball into that space.
"Maybe the two of us have been brought up in the same generation of rugby and see the game very similarly and Olly showed in the way he played in the first game that he is switched on."
The entire squad came together for a meeting on Saturday with the Springbok disaster still fresh in their minds and there appears to be a new resolution from the players to "give it a go".
"I don't think form has anything to do with it, it's about regaining the enjoyment and interaction on the field," Wilkinson said.
"We've had to turn the thinking and perception round a few degrees, made a few changes and suddenly the strengths have come out, instead of maybe making players play to fit something where they are not perhaps best suited.
"What we want to do now is show everyone why we are here and what makes us international players.
