New South Wales Waratahs chief executive Jim L'Estrange says he will not accept any excuses for failure in the 2008 Super 14.
The Waratahs finished second to bottom on the Super 14 table this year,
a far cry from managing to reach the final and semifinal in the previous two seasons.
L'Estrange, who replaced Fraser Neill as the Waratahs boss,
said they would be looking to win the title.
"We won't be looking for any excuses whatsoever," L'Estrange told The Australian newspaper.
"We have very high aspirations for next year. I know I share that with Ewen McKenzie and the coaching team and, in fact, all of NSW Rugby Union shares those aspirations.
"We are out to win so there is no doubt where we are aspiring to be. Everyone has to aim to win. Winning is important.
"We've re-signed every one of our Wallabies and we've made some great new signings so the depth and experience in our team is there again.
"Last year we had a lot of young players who had to stand up in the hardest comp in the world. They are a year older and a year more experienced and I think it is going to hold us in very good stead," L'Estrange said.
Coach McKenzie said he did not make any excuses for the Waratahs' disappointing Super 14 season in 2007.
"We have been up front about where we have been," McKenzie said.
"It wasn't the season we wanted. It wasn't the season we expected. The main thing is what you do about it. We've spent the last five months working hard on how we are going to fix that and I'm pretty happy with the progress."
McKenzie indicated the Waratahs would play a different style of rugby next year, especially with the services of new rugby league recruit Timana Tahu.
"You'll definitely see a difference," McKenzie said. "We've got some new personnel. Assuming everyone runs on the field, you'll definitely see a different style. There are parts of what we did this year which we want to develop further.
"The style of the game - apart from this year we have been playing semi-final football. We weren't far away from it so I don't think you've got to chuck everything out, but you have to attend to things that aren't working as well as you'd like.
