French Coach Bernard Laporte was left ruing one specific moment in his sides semifinal which he singled out as the turning point in the game.
France was leading by a solitary point ten minutes into the second half
when it appeared Vincent Clerc would score, only to be ankle tapped by
Englands replacement loose forward Joe Worsley just short
of the line. He managed to offload to Sébastien Chabal but England
scrambled back managed to keep the home side out.
"That was our chance," said Laporte.
"If we had scored that try we would have won the match, but we didn't. Semifinals always come down to little things. That one came down to nothing," he added.
"The England team were strong but we expected this kind of match.
