Former international flanker Marc Lievremont is the man to replace Beranrd Laporte as coach of France following its fourth place finish at the Rugby World Cup.
Lievremont succeeds Bernard Laporte, who held the reins for eight years,
and has now joined the French government as a junior minister for sport.
The 38-year-old Lievremont won 23 test caps between 1995 and 1999 and as a coach, he has guided Dax back in to the French first division.
He will be assisted by former France wing Emile Ntamack and Didier Retiere who
were joint coaches of the France under 21 side that won the world title last year.
"A page has just been turned with the World Cup and we want to write a new one with these three men," FFR president Bernard Lapasset told reporters after the announcement.
"What we liked about Marc Lievremont is that he is modest, perceptive and competent," Lapasset said.
Other coaches were considered, among them Sale's Philippe Saint-Andre, Fabien Galthie of Stade Francais and Toulouse's Guy Noves.
