It seems there may be something to play for after all in the third/fourth playoff following a war of words which has broken about between France and Argentina.
Both sides have been squabbling over who has played the more negative style of
rugby at the World Cup.
The argument kicked off when Pumas centre Felipe Contempomi, who has not been short of a few words during the tournament, suggested that France had given up its penchant for 'champagne rugby'.
The French free-running full-back Clément Poitrenaud was quick to respond, pointing out that the Pumas were hardly setting the world alight with attractive rugby.
"He wants to talk to me about champagne rugby?" said Poitrenaud to AFP.
"They have been relying just on mauls and up-and-unders. They need to stop mouthing off.
"The only player capable of champagne rugby in the Argentinian team is Juan Martin Hernandez.
